The study of artificial intelligence have yielded us with comfort and terror. The machines are becoming more and more intelligent and powerful not on their own, but with the help of man's efforts. Man Vs Machines.. this has been a theme for stories and movies from the time when man started his work on the artificial intelligence. But could machines outsmart humans?? It seems like some kind of joke while i started reading on the topic. But some of the top scientists in the field of AI might not be laughing. They say that massively intelligent machines could threaten humanity.
Could man cerate such super intelligent machines that could wipe us out?. The answer is simple as "yes!". But so far such massively intelligent machines have not been created. The power that man can put into a single chip has been increased ever since its invention. 50 years ago the worlds most powerful computer weighed 30 tons!. Today a single chip is more powerful than what they were.
Artificial Intelligence has given us heavy duty intelligent machines that can diagnose our illness, run our factories, and even beat us in chess!!. We all don't forget the moment when a computer named Deep Blue beat humanities best chess player! The more complex our technology becomes the more control we give it. Now we know that most of our manufacturing, Investing, diagnose, calculation and much more is in the hands of machines. So we can say that humans are giving up the ultimate power! the power to make decisions, to the machines!.
Even our military is now safe in the hands of these super intelligent machines!. We are giving up our power to make life or death decisions to machines. Guess what would happen if they are going to protest against us to reduce their work load!. That wont be funny anymore!. 2001 : A Space Odyssey was an excellent movie that gave us and idea of somewhat similar situation.
Scientists are busy in making a network of computers, or i should say super intelligent machines, that are applicable in different fields, so they can attain a huge network of machines that would make man's effort negligible in their own field!. This threat has been filmed in the Terminator III.
